See her 'father' George CRIMES b.1871 for a discussion which may impact on Ivy Johnson's parentage. The 1921 England Census gives age (at June 1921) as 16 years and 10 months, leading to a birth date of August 1904. Ivy Johnson's birth was not registered until Q4 of 1904. In 1921 Ivy Johnson was employed by Hammond & Co. Army & Navy Clothing Factory of Bridle Road, Crewe. From The Crewe Chronicle of 12 February 1927: "CREWE YOUNG LADY'S DEATH - The funeral took place at Crewe Cemetery on Thursday of Miss Ivy Crimes (22), of 33, Flag-lane, who died from Diphtheria on the previous Monday. A number of the deceased's friends from Messrs. Doody's factory attended, and a wreath was sent by the staff." |
