"Archie" was admitted to Ashton Hayes County Primary School 15 June 1903. Parent was recorded as "C. Gaulton, G'father" who was his maternal grandfather Charles GAULTON, both of his parents having died. Previous school was recorded as Church Coppenhall [Crewe]. Hugh Archibald left the Ashton Hayes School after 4 days, on 19 June 1903 "Left Village". In 1911 Archibald was living with his aunt Harriet (probably sister of his deceased mother) and uncle. Archibald served in WWI as Private in the Cheshire Regiment and Labour Corps.
