Elsie was admitted to Cherry Grove Infant School, Chester on 1 June 1910. Previous school: "Boughton Council". She left that school on 28 April 1911 "Removed". Elsie was re-admitted to Cherry Grove Schools, Chester on 20 April 1914. Previous school: "Guilden Sutton". She left Cherry Grove on 5 January 1920 "Age 14". In 1921 Elsie was employed by 'Governors of Queen School, Chester'. Elsie and Colin James were living at the same address in 1939, both declared as married but both using their birth surnames. Colin James was in fact still married to his previous partner, and Elsie was single. There was no marriage between Elsie and Colin James. This unusual circumstance (for 1939) explains the difficulty in interpreting the birth records of their two children. In 1959 Elsie (legally single) married for the first and only time, before Colin James ROBERTSON had died. |
