Arthur attended Heathside School, Warrington from 1899. in 1921 Arthur was employed by Monks Hall & Co. Ltd. Iron Rolling Mills of Liverpool Road, Warrington. The 1926 marriage has been assigned to this Arthur after obtaining the marriage certificate. The certificate shows that at the time of the marriage both Arthur and his father Arthur were policemen. A medal/award record (FindMyPast) for service during World War I gives Service Record as: "Soldier Number: 1565, Rank: Private, Corps: South Lancashire Regiment" From The Burnley Express of 18 September 1946: "The forthcoming retirement on pension from the Burnley Police Force is announced, of .... Sergt. Arthur Chrimes.....Sergt. Chrimes, who lives at 31 Cleaver Street is the son of a Warrington police pensioner. In the 1914-8 war he served in France with the South Lancashire Regiment. He joined the Force in 1921, and for some time served in the Fire Brigade. For seven years he was in the chief clerk's department, and in 1938 was promoted sergeant." Arthur's Grant of Probate reads: "CHRIMES, Arthur of 281 West Dv Cleveleys Lancs died 28 July 1977 Probate Liverpool 24 August £1385" |
