Contributed by D G Brewick: Robert Claghorn died at Hines Veterans Hospital, on the west side of the Chicago metro area. It is currently listed as Hines, IL, but in 1941 it would probably have been Maywood, IL. Both Hines and Maywood are in Proviso Township. They are in Cook County, but separate from Chicago. Also contributed by D G Brewick: "Robert C Chrimes is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Janesville, WI. He was a member of the Paulist Choir in Chicago and traveled to Europe with them in 1912. They sang at the Vatican for Pope Pius X and won an international choir competition in Paris." This is consistent with the travel record of his return to New York. Robert Claghorn served in Company "C", 330th Battalion, Tank Corps of the US Army as Private First Class (1918/19). He was discharged on 11 April 1919. The 1918 Enlistment card gives a location as "Rancaqua, Chile, So Amer" but it is not clear whether this was place of enlistment or place of residence. |
