Other researchers have confused this male with Nellie Ada Crimes who died in 1969, aided by poor transcriptions of UK Census entries. In the 1911 UK Census, at his marriage and at his death Willie was named William, though in the 1915 and 1916 Railway Employment Registers he was still named Willie. The 17 Oct 1885 birth date was followed by a late registration, which explains the short gap to the next child John in 1886 Q4. Willie was baptised at the age of 4, on the same day as seven of his siblings. In 1921 Willie, though "Out of Work", had previously been employed by Corporation Gas Works, Macclesfield. The instructions for completion of the 1921 England Census include: "For a member of a private household (such as householder's wife) who is mainly occupied in unpaid domestic duties at home, write 'Home Duties'". However, Willie declared his wife's occupation to be "Not Occupied for a Living". In the 1921 England Census, living with Willie and Jane were two boarders. Willie's Grant of Probate reads: "CRIMES William of 71 Forge Fields Wheelock Sandbach Cheshire died 7 January 1965 at Alvaston Hospital Nantwich Cheshire. Probate Chester 19 March to Arthur Ratcliffe mill worker and Herbert Cecil Rigby solicitor. £201". |
