From The Cheshire Observer of 13 May 1933: "NORLEY - DEATH OF MRS. ROBERT CHRIMES - The death occurred on Sunday of Mrs. Mary Ann Paine Chrimes, aged 79 years, at the home of her son, Mr. Vincent Chrimes. A native of Norley, Mrs. Chrimes was the widow of Mr. Robert Chrimes, who predeceased her about 12 years ago. She leaves two sons, one of whom, Mr. Wilfred Chrimes, emigrated to Australia 25 years ago. An ardent church worker and class leader, she was a life-long member of the Central Methodist Church. She began to teach in the Sunday School at the age of 13 years, and finished through failing health in her 70th year. She was a trustee and one of the oldest members of Norley Total Abstinence Society (Rechabites). The interment took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Parish Church. The vicar (the Rev. H.J.E.Williams) officiated. The mourners included: Mr. and Mrs Vincent Chrimes (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. John Chrimes (grandson), Mrs. P. Spann and the Misses Florence, Laura, Rose and Hilda Chrimes (granddaughters), Mrs. W. Anderson, Mrs. Julia Woodward, Mrs. J. Hodgkinson, Mr. T. Chrimes, Miss May Chrimes, Mrs. Chris. Chrimes, Mr. and Mrs. H. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. T. Griffiths, (Northwich), Mr. S. Newall and Mr. W. Tomlinson, Mr. W. Barker, Mr. and Mrs. E. Yearsley, Messrs. W. and A. Chrimes, Miss B. Hough, Mr. W. Hough, Mrs. T. Lewis, Mrs. Jarvis, and Mrs. Barker, Miss Sutton, Mrs. Sant, Miss Gerrard (Fingerpost-lane), Mr. F. Blain, and others. The bearers were: Mr. J. Chrimes (grandson), Mr. J. Halstead, Mr. A. Newall, Mr. H. Chrimes, and Messrs. Whitehead (Northwich). Among the wreaths was a tribute from the members of the Central Methodist Church." The Administration Record reads: "Chrimes Mary Ann Paine of West View Road Norley Cheshire widow died 7 May 1933 Administration Chester 10 November to Vincent Chrimes labourer. Effects £13" |
