In the 1911 census Joseph was living in Rock Ferry on the Wirral, with his wife Minnie and their son Laurence. Joseph declared that there had been another child who had died before 1911. This was Joseph Edward.
In the 1921 England Census Joseph and Minnie were visitors to a GAMESON family.
In 1921 Joseph was employed by Frisby Dyke & Co. Ltd, Drapers of 60 Lord St., Liverpool.

From The Liverpool Daily Post of 12 December 1939: "DEATHS - CHRIMES - December 10, at Ruislip, in his 68th year, JOSEPH CHRIMES (late of Rock Ferry, Cheshire), dearly-loved husband of Minnie Chrimes. Cremation at Golders Green Crematorium, to-morrow (Wednesday), at 11.15 a.m.; short service at Ruislip Parish Church at 10.15 a.m."
Joseph's Grant of Probate record reads: "CHRIMES Joseph of 13 Manor Road Ruislip Middlesex died 10 December 1939 Probate London 18 April [1940] to Minnie Chrimes widow. Effects £3723 13s. 1d."
