From The Uxbridge and West Drayton Gazette of 2 October 1936: "RUISLIP - MARRIAGE OF MR. L. CHRIMES - Father K.S. Sutton officiated at the marriage on Saturday in the Church of the Most Sacred Heart, of Mr. Laurence Chrimes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chrimes, of The Woods, Manor-road, and Miss Eileen Marguerite O'Reilly, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. O'Reilly, of Blundell Sands, Liverpool. The bride was given away by her father, and wore .... She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Kathleen O'Reilly, ... Mr. J.S. Fletcher acted as best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Bull Hotel, Gerrards Cross, where about thirty relatives and friends were entertained. Mr. and Mrs. Chrimes later left for Babbacombe, the bride travelling in a green costume with hat to match." From the Liverpool Echo of 31 March 1945: "NOTABLE LOCAL NAMES IN THE AWARDS - Major Laurence Chrimes, who has received the M.B.E., is brigadier-major with a group of artillery. A native of Birkenhead, he is a chartered accountant, and has been on active service throughout the war. Fighting originally in France, he survived the Dunkirk retreat, and afterwards took part in the desert campaign from Alamein to Tunis, subsequently landing in Sicily. Returning to this country, he went out again to France on D Day as brigadier-major. His wife (formerly Miss Eileen O'Reilly), and two sons reside in Kenilworth Road, Blundellsands." Service Number: 92501 Laurence's Grant of Probate record reads: "CHRIMES Laurence of The Knowle Blundellsands Road West Great Crosby Lancashire died 8 October 1960 at The General Hospital Waterloo Liverpool Probate Liverpool 2 January [1961] to Eileen Marguerite Chrimes widow and Alexander Donald McKerrow solicitor. Effects £6911 19s. 7d." Laurence is recorded as Liquidator in several bankruptcy cases between 1948 and 1954. From The Liverpool Echo of 10 October 1960: "Mr. Laurence Chrimes, of The Knowle, Blundellsands, company secretary of Evans Medical Supplies Limited, Liverpool, died on Saturday. He was 60 [sic]. Mr. Chrimes, a chartered accountant, was the son of the late Mr. Joseph Chrimes, who was managing director of the famous Liverpool Lord Street firm of Frisby, Dyke and Company Limited, and was related to Sir Bertram Chrimes who was a managing director of Coopers Limited, Church Street. Mr. Chrimes leaves a widow and three sons." |
