Herbert died at the age of 22 years.
From The Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser of 8 July 1882: "Pawnbroker's Sale - Tuesday and Wednesday next, at eleven at the Falstaff Exchange, Market-place: Gold and Silver Watches, Guards, Jewellery, Plate, etc., by order of the executors of the late Mr. Herbert Crimes, of Duke-street, Hulme. Hutchinson, Auctioneer."
Herbert's Grant of Administration reads: "CRIMES Herbert 9 [1882] January Administration of the Personal Estate of Herbert CRIMES late of 113 Duke Street Stretford Road in the City of Manchester Pawnbroker a Batchelor who died 14 December 1881 at 113 Duke Street was granted at Manchester was granted to Jane Roberts (wife of Evan Roberts, Watchmaker) of 113 Duke Street, the Sister. Personal Estate: £958 3s."
Herbert appears on the Index to Death Duty Registers for 1882.
