William was admitted to the Prestwich Lunatic Asylum on 23 June 1860 which is where he died on 13 April 1891. It is not known whether he spent the whole of the intervening 30 years there, but he cannot be found on the 1861, 1871, 1881 or 1891 UK Census. William's death index record is in the name CHRIMES whereas the Probate Calendar entry is in the name CRIMES. Williams's Proving of Will record reads: "CRIMES William. 10 June. The Will of William Crimes formerly of Salford but late of Prestwich both in the County of Lancaster who died 13 April 1891 at Prestwich was proved at Manchester by Ann Crimes of 68 Higher Cambridge Street Chorlton-upon-Medlock in the City of Manchester Widow the Relict the sole Executrix. Personal Estate: £203 16s." William appears in the Index to Death Duty Registers for 1891 as 'Crimes, William of Prestwich died 13 Apr 91 Executor A. Crimes.' |
