William was named CRIMES at his marriage, but at the marriage of his son Joseph in 1840 his name is given as CHRIMES In the 1841 census William's name was recorded as CRIMES. In the 1851 and 1861 census William gave his surname as CHRIMES so this is used. In the 1871 census Elizabeth was declared Widow, so William must have died 1861 - 1871, so the 1867 Ellesmere death record has been chosen. The baptism record dated 13 October 1794 at Preston Gubbals is presumed correct even though the parents' names are not given. The assumption is that there was only one CRIMES family bearing children at Preston Gubbals 1780 - 1800. William may have had sisters Mary b.1784, Martha b.1887 and Elizabeth b.1789 born to Joseph CRIMES and Martha/Mary in Preston Gubbals. |
