Henry's First Name is known from the baptism record of his son Henry, from the Birth Certificate of his daughter Mary Emma and from the marriage certificate of his daughter Martha. Henry's occupation was Tanner. Died between 1896 (youngest child born) and 1901 (wife declared as widow on census). The 1900 death record is chosen accordingly, but although this leads to a birth year of 1860, no CHRIMES birth record can be found, so the CRIMES birth at Atcham, Shropshire is presumed correct. The 1861 England census shows Henry CRIMES to be "Grandson" of Joseph CRIMES and Mary Henry's baptism record gives his mother's name as Ann Crimes I cannot find a marriage record for Henry. The 1881 England Census record is for Henry CRIM b.1860 Shrewsbury, Occupation: Elephant Trainer. However, baptism records and marriage records of his children (after his death), declare him to have been a Leather Tanner, which opens up the possibility that the census enumerator mis-read Henry's census submission. Electoral Register records for 1885-88 at Harriett Place, Ardwick and for 1890-91 at Broadie Street, Ardwick may apply. The 1887-88 Electoral Register record is in the name CHRYMES. |
