Clement served in WWI. It is possible that a record of admission to hospital during service in World War I (FindMyPast) relates to Clement, though the record refers simply to "C Chrimes" whose service number was 1262 and who served in the S. Lancs. Regiment, which conflicts with the following. The Electoral Registers for 1918 and 1919 place Clement on the Absent Voters' List [Military service] with the Service Number and Unit: "103450 Pte, 10th Sherwood Foresters". A further record (FindMyPast) from the recordset Britain, Campaign, Gallantry & Long Service Medals gives full name, and Service Numbers, confirming that the Electoral Register record does indeed apply to this C Chrimes, and that the hospital admission record does not. Service Numbers: 46845, 103456 In 1921 Clement was employed by Oxton Bros. and Williams, Builder. Clement was the subject of a notice in The London Gazette of 31 August 1971 seeking claimants to his estate: "CHRIMES Clement [of] 6 Gladstone Road, Neston, Cheshire, Storekeeper [died] 28th April 1971" |
