William married twice:
On the 1961 census William was in Birkenhead with his first wife Jane Devoy (née McBRIDE) and their children Henry and William.
Jane died in Birkenhead in 1865.
William re-married to Abigail BOLTON in Birkenhead in 1866.
On the 1871 census William was in Birkenhead with his second wife Abigail and his children William and Mary, and his step-son William OWENS aged 7.
On the 1881 census William was still in Birkenhead with his second wife Abigail and his step-son William aged 17, now called William CRIMES.
