At the 1898 trial Richard was said to have the alias "Richard Randall"
In the 1901 census Richard CHRIMES, Edward CHRIMES and Leonard CHRIMES were all "Convicts" in Carisbrooke, Hampshire. This must be Parkhurst Prison on the Isle of Wight. Richard was declared as Married. Richard's original sentence of 12 years for blackmail was reduced to 5 years following a petition to the Home Secretary. This is consistent with an Electoral Register record for 1905.
In the 1911 census Richard was living with his wife Margaret and their children Douglas and Adela Margaret at Portslade near Shoreham, Sussex. Also with them was Richard's brother Edward.
In 1921 Richard was 'Employer', working 'At Home'.
