Joan is known from a notice of her 1948 marriage, with [PHOTOGRAPH], in The Argus (Melbourne) newspaper of Wednesday 18 February 1948 which reads: "Joan, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Chrimes, Page ave, Garden City, and Ian, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G.E. Barker, Fairholm Grv, Camberwell wed at Holy Trinity Church, Pt. Melbourne."
Joan's newspaper obituary reads: "BARKER (Chrimes). - Joan. 22.7.1922 - 5.4.2013 Passed away peacefully at Cabrini Malvern at age of 90 years. Loved wife of Ian Barker (dec. ), loving mother to Anne, Lee and Susan, Nanna to James, Perry and Dorje and adoring Great Nanna Joan to Django and Norbu and the whole extended family. Will miss you Joan."
