Victoria (Australia) BDM record of Edward John's birth contributed by Stephen PARKER.
From Standard Port Melbourne of 22 December 1906: "SCHOOL CONCERTS - Miss Hettie Nixon's School - The intimation of the concert and distribution of prizes in connection with Miss Hettie Nixon's school drew a large audience at the Excelsior Hall on Thursday evening, 17th inst. ... A pretty ring game was then danced by some of the girls, and two children, Teddie and Lily Chrimes. This had to be repeated. ... The other items, all of which were well received, were ... Coon song, Miss Ada Stuart, with Teddie and Lily Chrimes as 'Coonlets'"
From The Age Melbourne of 8 April 1940: "Smash at Donnybrook. Two men were injured/one seriously, when two motor cars came into collision on the Hume Highway near Donnybrook railway gates early yesterday morning. Those injured were: Harold Day, 40 years, Esplanade West, Port Melbourne, fractured base of the skull and lacerations; Edward Chrimes, 40 years, Page-avenue, Port Melbourne, lacerated head. Day was admitted to Royal Melbourne Hospital, while Chrimes was treated and allowed to go to his home."
A passenger manifest record for "Edward J Chrimes" arriving by plane at New York from London in 1954 seems unlikely, but there is no other Edward J CHRIMES in this research. Perhaps the journey was related to his senior engineering position in Ingersoll-Rand.
