The death record gives mother's name as BATTLE, so is confirmed. Nancy Nettie Louisa appears to have used the name CRIMES at marriage. From The Chehalis Bee-Nugget of Friday April 28 1922: "The funeral of Mrs. Nettie Hayes, who died at the family home on Folsom Street, Friday afternoon, April 21 was held Sunday afternoon ... from the Baptist church...Mrs. Hayes was 50 years of age and leaves, to mourn her death, her husband George E Hayes; one son, George E Hayes Jr.; and two brothers, John E Crymes of Seattle and Lycurgus Crymes of North Carolina; and her aged mother, Mrs. M A Crymes, who also lives in North Carolina." |
