William Glen's Find-a-Grave obituary reads: "EAST LIVERPOOL" William G. Howell, 66, of Calcutta Smith Ferry Road, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday in East Liverpool City Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 8, 1924 in Hancock County, W.Va., the son of the late Leo and Elva Brown Howell. He was a lifetime East Liverpool resident. Mr. Howell was a retired East Liverpool postal clerk with 25 years of service. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the VFW Post 66, the American Legion Post 374 and the John Covert Chapter of the Disable American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Crymes, whom he married Oct. 14, 1944; two daughters, P▮▮▮▮▮ Y. Hoppel and Mrs. R▮▮▮▮▮▮ (▮▮▮▮▮) Cable, both of Calcutta; two sisters, Mrs. E▮▮▮▮ (A▮▮▮) Dray of Calcutta and Mrs. S▮▮▮▮▮▮ G▮▮▮▮▮ of East Liverpool; one brother, J▮▮▮ Howell of East Liverpool; and two grandchildren, Tina Burke and Rick Cable, both of Calcutta. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home with Rev. William Betteridge of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, Youngstown, officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park, where full military honors will be accorded by the Tri-State Burial Group."
