From The Independent Record of Helena, Montana of 27 December 1967: "VA Physician Found Dead. Dr. Thomas P Crymes III, 42, of 1905 Jerome Place, a physician at Veteran's Administration Hospital at Fort Harrison was found dead in his apartment by friends Tuesday. Sheriff-Coroner Dave Middlemass ordered an autopsy the results of which will not be returned until after Jan 1, but said there was no indication of violence or foul play. He said death probably ocurred about 10pm Christmas Day. Crymes had dinner with an associate Saturday when he was reported to be in good health and spirits. When he did not appear for duty Tuesday, his friends became concerned, and with permission of the landlord broke into Crymes' securely locked apartment and discovered the body. Near neighbors in other apartments reported having heard a loud thump about 10pm Monday, according to Middlemass. Dr. Crymes came to the staff of VA Hospital March 13 1965. He was born June 24 1925 at Shelby, Tenn. He received his medical degree at University of Tennessee in 1947, served his internship at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis and then served residences in West Tennessee TB Hospital, Memphis; Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Tex. and at a hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to coming to Helena he was on the staff of the VA Hospital at Oteen, NC. He was in the Air Force as a physician and captain from 1950-1952." |
