From the Find-a-Grave record: "June 18, 1929-Oct. 19, 2011 James A. Snoddy, 82, of Rogersville, formerly of Huntsville, passed away peacefully Oct. 19, 2011. He was born June 18, 1929, in Rogersville, Ala., to parents Clyde Patrick and Vernon Pricilla Snoddy, of Rogersville. Mr. Snoddy was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School, attended the University of Alabama, Florence State University and University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was an active member of the varsity football team and excelled in many athletic sports. Mr. Snoddy was a senior flight engineer in the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Snoddy started his 45-year career at NASA in 1958, serving under Dr. Wernher von Braun's Apollo-Saturn 5 Launch Vehicle team at Marshall Space Flight Center during the infancy of the nation's space program. He was a key player in the development of Apollo-Saturn 5, Lunar Landing Skylab, Space Shuttle Programs, including the SRB. His first jobs included Mercury-Gemini program. He received many awards and recommendations for his contributions to the space program from Wernher von Braun's team. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years and high school sweetheart, Alma Crymes Snoddy, of Rogersville, and son, James A. "Bo" Snoddy. Mr. Snoddy is survived by his daughters, J▮▮▮ A▮▮▮ Chandler, of Huntsville, and A▮▮ Holdbrooks (Heath), of Decatur; sisters, F▮▮▮▮▮▮ Ingrum, S▮▮▮▮ Alexander, S▮▮▮▮▮▮ Smith and D▮▮▮▮ Bates; brothers, C▮▮▮▮ Snoddy and D▮▮▮▮ Snoddy; four grandchildren, Jason K. Chandler (Alexis), Heath Pace Holdbrooks, James Paul Holdbrooks and Lillian Rebekah Holdbrooks. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct., 22, 2011, at Rogersville United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Rod Morgan and the Rev. J.W.
