William is connected to his family by his 1928 Marriage Certificate which gives his address, being the same as that of John CHRIMES in 1911. On that same 1911 census return is William LALLY age 6, declared as son but corrected to stepson, so I believe that William CHRIMES and William LALLY are the same person. On that basis we can be confident that William's mother was Sarah Lally née O'BRIEN. In the 1921 England Census William was named Chrimes, and declared to be 'son' (actually 'step-son'). In 1921 William was employed by John Russels of Wednesbury. The second marriage, to Emma Lewis née BANKS in 1947, is assigned to this William based on location and elimination, his first wife Ellen DAVIES having died in 1942. |
