Place of birth is taken from a GenesReunited tree by "Bronwen Hebblethwaite". I cannot find a marriage record for Charles Herbert and I do not believe that he married. From The Runcorn Weekly News of 28 February 1936: "Mr. C.H. Chrimes, Widnes - Great sorrow was felt in Widnes, particularly on West Bank, during last week, by the news of the death of Mr. Charles Herbert (Bert) Chrimes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chrimes, Arch Hotel. Never actually of robust health, but ever with a cheerful disposition and helpful word for all, he suffered a return attack of bronchitis which to the great sorrow of his friends, proved fatal. Although unable to take active part in sport, he more or less organised a football team, being secretary of the Arch Rangers. Whenever possible he was a worshipper at St. Mary's Church. Mr. Chrimes, who was 32 years of age, assisted his father at the Arch Hotel. The funeral took place at the Borough Cemetery on Friday, following service in St. Mary's Church. The Rev. F.H. Marshall officiated and many friends assembled to pay their respects." Charles Herbert's Administration record reads: "CHRIMES Charles Herbert of Arch Hotel Lower Church Street Widnes Lancashire died 19 February 1936 Administration Liverpool 1 April to Charles Chrimes [father] licensed victualler. Effects £758 10s 1d" |
