Thomas Edward served in WWI as Flight Sub Lieutenant with the Royal Navy Air Service. Service Number: Unknown From the Folkestone, Hythe, Sandgate and Cheriton Herald of 21 June 1919: "Marriages CHRIMES - HOPPER On June 12th at St. Peters, Eaton Square, London SW by the Rev. W. A. Simmonds, Thomas Edward Chrimes, elder son of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Chrimes, Holmcroft, Hove, to Alice Lydia Hopper, elder daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Percy H Hopper of Belgrave Road, London SW." In the 1921 England Census Thomas Edward was 'Head' of his household but his wife was not present. She was in a Nursing Home with their 2-day old child. In 1921 Thomas Edward was employed by L B & S C Railway Co. at Locomotive Running Repair Shed, Battersea Park SW11. Thomas Edward's wife Alice Lydia HOPPER died in 1924, having had 2 children with Thomas Edward. Thomas Edward married Olive Lucy HOPPER in 1926. Were they sisters? In 1936 Thomas Edward and Olive Lucy returned to England from a trip to Buenos Aires, with Thomas Edward's sister Nora Winifred and Olive Lucy's parents. From the Surrey Mirror and County Post of 29 September 1950: "Many Tributes to Mr. HunneyBell on his retirement.....The presentation was made by Mr. T.E. Chrimes ([British Railways] Southern Region Motive Power Superintendent) who said he felt privileged in being asked to make the presentation, particularly in Redhill, which was his home town......" Thomas Edward's gravestone is inscribed: "In loving memory of THOMAS EDWARD CHRIMES born 13th June 1893 died 5th January 1967 In the garden of memory we meet everyday.
