In 1851 Thomas was not with his mother, but was resident at a school? in Wentworth, Rotherham In 1861 Thomas was declared as "Married" but was living alone in Kimberworth. He must have married between 1856 (he 18) and 1861. In the 1871 census, Thomas's age was given as 23 (actually 33) and his surname and that of his family members was given as CHRIMER. This is clearly the right Thomas as his occupation was "Foreman at Brass Works". His wife's name was Ann, so I presume this to be Ann WATTS. In the 1881 census Thomas's wife Ann was declared as Widow, so Thomas died between 1871 and 1881. Thomas was privately admitted to the Cheadle Lunatic Asylum on 15 August 1872 and died there 9 days later. Thomas died in Cheadle, Cheshire at the age of 34 but was buried in Rotherham. Thomas's Administration Record reads: "CHRIMES Thomas 20 November [1872] Administration of the effects of Thomas Chrimes late of Rotherham in the County of York Brass Fitter who died 24 August 1872 at Cheadle in the County of Chester was granted at Wakefield to Ann Chrimes of Rotherham Widow the relict. Effects under £3,000" |
