In 1845, the Partnership between the brothers Peter, Edward and Richard CHRIMES was dissolved by mutual consent, the business at that time being described as "Plumbers and Glaziers, and Brass Manufacturers". His wife Hannah was declared "Widow" in the 1851 census, so Edward died between 1841 and 1851. Edward's father Edward b.abt.1791 also died in that same decade. As Edward's father Edward is now believed to have died in 1845 near Warrington, Lancashire, the 1847 Rotherham death record must refer to this Edward. This is supported by Edward's appearance in the Index to Death Duty Registers dated 1847, giving address as 'Rotherham, Yorkshire' and name of administratrix as 'Hannah Chrimes'. Interestingly, but not surprisingly given his young age at death, Edward died intestate. The Notice of Dissolution of Partnership in The London Gazette dated 25 October 1845 shows that this Edward (the son) was still alive at that date, and further supports the assignment of the January 1845 Haydock death to his father. |
