From The Cheshire Observer of 9 January 1937: "CHESTER BRIDE FOR NORLEY BRIDEGROOM. Grosvenor Park Baptist Church, Chester was tastefully decorated with white chrysanthemums and arum lilies on Monday, for the wedding of Miss Mabelle Brown, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Brown, of Ingleton, Lache Park-avenue, Chester, and Mr. Bertram Harry Chrimes, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chrimes, Moss Farm, Norley. The bridegroom is an assistant teacher at Darwin-street Council School, Northwich, and is organist at Bethel Methodist Church, Norley. The bride formerly was employed as a stenographer by Crosville Motor Services Ltd. Rev. Philip E Pegg (minister) conducted the crermony, and Mr. A.H. Orme was at the organ. The hymns, "O, Perfect Love" and "God be with them while they stand" were sung, and the organist played the bridal music from "Lohengrin", and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March". Given away by her father, the bride was charmingly attired in a dress of white Charmeusse satin, with Halter neck-line, plaited silver lame head-dress and white silk net, and silver shoes. She carried a bouquet of arum lilies. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Margaret Chrimes and Miss Dorothy L. Sims. Miss Chrimes wore a pink moire taffeta picture frock with head-dress to match, lace mittens and silver shoes. Her bouquet was of pink tulips. Miss Sims wore a blue moire taffeta picture frock, with head-dress to match, lace mittens and silver shoes. She carried a bouquet of pink tulips. The bride's mother was attired in a dress of midnight blue cloque and velvet and the bridegroom's mother in a dress of navy blue floral marocain. Mr. J.D. Schofield, M.Sc, was best man, and Mr. J.R. Brown and Mr. F. Wright were groomsmen. A reception was held at the Washington Hotel, and afterwards the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon in London." [ALSO PHOTOGRAPH]
