Ann was named CRIMES at birth. Her family seem to have sometimes used the name CRIMES, sometimes CHRIMES. The 1891 UK Census is in the name CHRIMES but mis-transcribed as CRIMES Ann's Grant of Probate reads: "WHITLOW Ann of Jack-lane Mere Heath Davenham near Northwich Cheshire (wife of Carl Ira Whitlow) died 11 May 1923 Probate London 14 June to the said Carl Ira Whitlow grocer Ernest Crimes farmer and George Risley insurance agent. Effects £1000 19s 5d." |
