In the 1921 England Census, Evelyn Alice was 'niece' in a KNOWLSON household near Blackburn. Her status within the household is not clear. The 'wife' of the household, Amy Knowlson, was born in Norley, which may provide the connection. 'Head' of the Blackburn household George Akenhead KNOWLSON married Amy HOUGH (b.Dec 1887) in 1908 at Liverpool. Amy HOUGH's birth was reg'd 1888 Q1 Runcorn.
Amy HOUGH is in the 1891 Census at 'Hough's Lane', Norley. No siblings look familiar to me, as providing a connection to CHRIMES. Mary Ann HOUGH b.1861 Norley was wife of Robert Arthur CHRIMES, but she is a generation too old to provide the connection. Perhaps declaring Evelyn Alice as 'niece' was a simplification, the actual connection being one generation further back? CheshireBMD gives the location of the 1932 marriage as "Runcorn, Civil Marriage or Registrar Attended" but this should be treated with caution as the ceremony may have been Methodist. |
