Samuel was admitted to St Thomas's Infants School, King Street, Dudley on 25 September 1902. His previous school was recorded as "Blue C. Supt."? He left the King Street school on 16 December 1903. Samuel was admitted to Park School (Boys), Dudley on 1 March 1905. He left that school on 3 August 1905, the record annotated: "To Canada". In fact Samuel emigrated to USA in September 1905 with his parents. Samuel, whilst living in Pittsburgh, enlisted in the Canadian overseas expeditionary force in 1917, in order to fight in WWI. Samuel served in the Canadian Machine Gun Corps. Service Number: 3030567. I cannot find Samuel on the 1930 US Census but he is on the 1940 US Census, with no children, so Samuel may not have had any children. Follow this link for an extremely comprehensive narrative of Samuel's life, including his WWI service, which has been contributed by Ken White (opens in New Window). Social Security number 362-05-5758 (indicating Michigan). |
