From The Manchester Times of 1 October 1853: "MARRIAGES On the 28th ult. at St. Leonard's Church, Middleton, by the Rev. R. Durnford, rector, Mr. Joseph Crimes, jun. of Strangeways, to Betty, eldest daughter of Mr. John Johnson, Stakehill, near Middleton."
