From The Manchester Times of 1 October 1853: "MARRIAGES On the 28th ult. at St. Leonard's Church, Middleton, by the Rev. R. Durnford, rector, Mr. Joseph Crimes, jun. of Strangeways, to Betty, eldest daughter of Mr. John Johnson, Stakehill, near Middleton." Joseph was initiated into The Zetland Lodge of Freemasons at Salford, Lancashire on 12 January 1863 (the year of his death). From The Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser of 31 October 1863: "DEATHS CRIMES - On the 26th inst., aged 37 years, Mr. Joseph Crimes, of Strangeways." Joseph's Grant of Administration reads: "CRIMES Joseph. 24 November. Letters of Administration of the Personal estate and effects of Joseph Crimes late of 2 Briddon street Strangeways Manchester in the County of Lancaster Print Works Manager deceased who died 26 October 1863 at Briddon street aforesaid were granted at Manchester to Betty Crimes of 2 Briddon street aforesaid Widow the Relict of the said Deceased she having been first sworn. Effects under £450". Joseph appears on the Index to Death Duty Registers for 1863. |
