I cannot find Amos on the 1881 or 1891 UK Census. Amos was baptised at the age of 38 years, according to the Catholic faith, 3 days before his Catholic marriage. The location of the 1899 marriage should be treated with caution, as it may in fact have been non-conformist (Catholic). The 1899 marriage record leads to possible spouses of Liley or Bridget, but not Delia. The 1911 UK Census gives the name of Amos's wife as Delia, and states that the marriage was 11 years ago, which matches the 1889 date. Was Delia another name of Liley or Bridget? In the 1921 England Census Amos declared his age to be 58 years and 1 month, whereas he was in fact 68 years old. In 1921 Amos was 'Out of Work' and had previously been employed by 'Different Contractors Locally'. |
