From Find-a-Grave: "From The Clarion-Ledger (Jackson, Miss.) of Thursday 1 September 1949: Jacksonians' Father Dies in Booneville. Brooksville, Aug. 31 - Funeral services for George L Crymes were held in the Brooksville Methodist church with the Rev. Howard Hayworth, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, assisted in the services. Burial was in the Soule [sic] Chapel cemetery. Mr. Crymes' death at his home followed a long illness. He was one of the oldest members of the Methodist church and one of the town's oldest citizens. He leaves his wife; two sons, John L. and James E Crymes of Jackson; four daughters, Miss Angeline Crymes of Helena, Ark., Mrs. J.A. Hootman of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Carey Phillips of Monroe, La., and Mrs. Edwin Watson of Hampton Roads, Va.; eight grandchildren; and one great grandson." From The Hattiesburg American of Tues 30 August 1949: "Mr. and Mrs. T P Crymes, 216 St., with their son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. George Crymes, attended the funeral of Mr. Crymes' brother George L Crymes in Brooksville Sunday. At the funeral service the minister told of the unusual coincidences in the deaths of Mr. Crymes and his sister seven years earlier. The sister and brother died in the same house after long illnesses. They died on the same Saturday, with funeral services and Brooksville Methodist church at the same hour on Sunday. Mr. Crymes and his sister were buried in the South Chapel cemetery near Macon." |
