In the 1921 England Census William declared that he was a Grocer, an Employer, and his place of work
was 'at home', implying that "South Bank" was a shop. From The Winsford Chronicle of 26 December 1942: "NORLEY - FUNERAL OF MR. WILLIAM CHRIMES - The funeral of Mr. Wm. Chrimes, Newlands, took place at the Parish Church on Thursday, when the Rev. James and the Rev. F. Taylor officiated at the service at the Chapel, and the Revs. H.J.E. Williams (vicar) and F. Taylor at the graveside. The mourners included: Mrs. Chrimes (widow), Mr. and Mrs. S. Chrimes and Mr. and Mrs. W. Chrimes (sons and daughters-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. P. Rutter, The Rev. and Mrs. F Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. S Ellis (sons-in-law and daughters), Messrs H. and E. Chrimes and Mr. and Mrs. A. Chrimes (brothers and sister-in-law), ... Tenants from Maddocks Lodge and representatives of the Northwich Rural Council also attended. Four members of the Norley Rechabites Society were bearers." William's Grant of Probate record reads: "CHRIMES William of Newlands Norley (near Warrington) Cheshire died 14 December 1942 Probate Chester 2 July to Samuel Wesley Chrimes solicitor Hannah Eliza Chrimes widow Doris Hilda Taylor (wife of Frank Taylor) and Marion Frances Rutter (wife of Percy Rutter). Effects £10799 16s. 4d." |
