From The Warrington Guardian of 30 December 1903: "DEATH OF A FORMER MAYORESS OF WARRINGTON - The death took place at her residence, 29, Coventry-road, Wavertree, on Christmas Day, of Mrs. Margaret Rigby Chrimes, relict of the late Mr. Alderman Joseph Chrimes, who was Mayor of Warrington during the years 1855-6-7. Mr. Chrimes died in 1869, so that his wife survived him for a considerable number of years. A son was born to her during the first year of the mayoralty, and Mrs. Chrimes was presented with a silver cradle and a purse of gold. For many years she kept a toy shop in Horsemarket-street. Both in Warrington and Wavertree she had a large circle of friends. The present market hall was opened while Mr. Chrimes was Mayor, and the late Sir Gilbert Greenall presented the Mayoress with a handsome silver basket in honour of the occasion. - The funeral took place on Tuesday forenoon at the Warrington Cemetery, the mourners present being:- Mr. Arthur Chrimes (eldest son), Eastbourne; Mrs. Chapman (daughter), Chester; Mr. and Mrs. Spencer (son-in-law and daughter), Richmond, London; Mr Harrison Chrimes (son), Liverpool, and Mrs. Chrimes; Mrs. Barker (sister of the deceased), Runcorn; Mr. and Mrs. Isaac (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. Wild (Southport), Mrs. William Chrimes (daughter-in-law), Mr. Joseph Chrimes (grandson), Mr. Pilling, Mr. Wood and Mr. C.
