In the 1940 US Federal Census with Oscar and his family is "J.P. grandson". From Oscar Dudley's Find-a-Grave record: "Oscar Dudley Crymes was the eldest son of John and Ellender Reynolds Crymes. He was the middle child with one older sister, Anna, and a younger brother, William Thomas.....On July 12, 1905 in Lawrence Co., TN, Oscar married Mattie Fern Clemmons. They were the parents of ten children, three daughters and seven sons. All of their children lived to adulthood with the exception of one son, Tommie Lee, who died at the age of five. After years of farming in the area around St. Florian, Lauderdale Co., AL, Oscar and Mattie moved their family to Nashville, TN. Oscar worked as a night watchman for a period of time. He enjoyed reading the Bible and attending the Church of Christ. Oscar spent many hours working with his wife, Mattie, in their garden. Oscar was buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery next to his wife, Mattie, and eldest daughter, Elizabeth. [In remembrance by Oscar Crymes' granddaughters.]" |
